App Terms of Service
Last updated: July 19, 2026
These terms cover your use of the Pulse app — the iOS app and the web app at pulse.equalnorth.dev — made by Equal North ("we," "us," "our"). They're separate from the website terms, which only cover this marketing site and the waitlist. By continued use of the app, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy.
The short version
Be a real person, be decent to your circle and the wide community, don't try to break the fairness mechanics, and we'll do our best to keep Pulse worth using.
Who can use Pulse
You need to be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, you'll need a parent or guardian's permission.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for what happens under your account. Don't impersonate someone else, and don't create an account for anyone but yourself.
What you post
You own what you post to Pulse. By posting it, you give us permission to store and display it as part of running the app — showing your circle your prompt response, showing your Wide post to its assigned round, or showing your comment to whoever can see that post, for instance. We don't claim ownership of your content, and we don't use it for anything beyond operating Pulse.
Location sharing
Sharing your location with a circle is entirely opt-in and entirely yours to control — turn it on or off for each circle independently, anytime, from that circle's map. We only take a location reading when you turn sharing on; we don't track you continuously in the background.
The rules
To keep Circle and Wide worth using:
- Don't harass, threaten, or impersonate anyone
- Don't post anything illegal, or that infringes someone else's rights
- Don't try to game the fairness mechanics — no bots, no fake accounts, no manipulating round assignment or blind-reveal timing
- Don't scrape, reverse-engineer, or resell access to Pulse
We can remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
No warranty
Pulse is provided "as is." We work to keep it reliable, but we don't guarantee it'll be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Equal North isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Pulse. Nothing here limits liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.
Ending your access
You can stop using Pulse anytime. To delete your account entirely, email us (see Contact below) — we can also suspend or terminate access for accounts that violate these terms.
Changes to these terms
We'll update the date at the top when these change, and let active users know if the change is significant.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
